Set a Password or Expiration Date on a Public Link to a Salesforce File In #SalesforceWinter24Release
Did you know that in Lightning Experience, you can enhance the security of your shared files by setting a password or expiration date on the public link?
This feature provides you with more control over your file's accessibility and ensures that your data remains protected even when shared externally.
By setting an expiration date, you can determine how long the link will be active, removing the risk of unauthorized access to outdated files.
The default setting is 30 days, but you can easily adjust it to suit your needs.
Additionally, you have the option to protect access to the file by enabling password protection.
When you turn this feature on, a randomized auto-generated password will be provided.
This prevents unauthorized individuals from accessing your file without your knowledge.
It's important to note that password protection and link expiration are not applicable to public links for folders.
However, you can still opt for extra security measures by applying these settings to individual files within the folder.
To configure your password defaults for Salesforce Files, simply access the content deliveries settings.
Follow these steps:
1. Go to Setup and enter "Salesforce Files" in the Quick Find box.
2. Choose "Content Deliveries and Public Links."
3. Select your preferred password default from the available options:
- Password protection is optional and defaults to OFF
- Password protection is optional and defaults to ON
- Password protection is required (Please keep in mind that this setting does not enforce password protection in Lightning Experience, but it will default to ON)
